Not sure if i did something wrong but it sunk after cooling so instead of being light it was dense. Still good but not what i was looking for

Hands down easiest and best cake recipe from scratch. Never dry. Light. Tasty. Always a hit.

I’ve made this cake twice now and both times it was a hit. The first time I made it I made a dark chocolate frosting to go with it, and this most recent time I made the buttercream frosting that the recipe suggests and the cake itself went really well with both. It stays moist and soft even after a few days of either being in the fridge or in a cake holder. It’s not too sweet and is very easy to make for someone like me who just got into baking. This will for sure be my go to recipe for a chocolate cake.

I’ve Made this delicious rich chocolate cake at least six times. Always a crowd pleaser and very easy to make. Put your phone down get in the kitchen and make that cake people.

Followed the directions exactly and it overflowed and made a mess of my oven!

I made this cake as part of a German chocolate cake for my sister’s birthday. I made two tall layers in 7” cake pans. Poured a layer of ganache and a layer of coconut/pecan frosting for the middle layer, and the top, and ganache piping around the top edge. It was probably the best tasting cake I’ve ever made- and I’m pretty critical of myself! I’ll be making this cake for anyone who loves chocolate!

Moist, rich, and an amazing texture. Comes out great in either cake pans or muffin/cupcake cases. The batter is always very runny which looks worrying, but bake it right and it always turns out fine. Especially good with vanilla buttercream filling and melted chocolate on top. You can reduce the sugar by about a third without drying it out, but be careful if your cocoa powder is very bitter! (It's still a very nice bitter chocolate cake though.)

Moist and yummy. The batter is runny so don’t worry. Served it for friends and they enjoyed them.

I made the “best chocolate cupcakes” and they were amazing!! With or without icing, the top is crispy and the cupcake is perfectly soft. Seriously addicting and easy to make.

Great cake. This cake will be the one I use from now on.

I’m a recipe tester and this is definitely my favorite chocolate cake recipe. Out of all the chocolate cakes I’ve ever made, nothing beats this one.

I was worried when the batter was so thin, especially since I was doing cupcakes instead of cake pans. They came out delicious! Definitely something I'm adding to my "favorites" list. And I did use the buttercream frosting too. I'm normally not a frosting person but this was great. I might add a bit of grated chocolate to the frosting next time just before I put it on the cupcakes for a bit of texture.

I exchanged a cup of coffee for the boiling water and espresso powder and loved how it turned out.

I already reviewed this. As @joilicious (the one who's never baked before😊) well I'm now adding photos of how mine turned out. Made it three times since then, my friends won't stop asking for more. ps: I burnt the crust the first time because I didn't preheat the oven! After that... I didn't take pictures of the last two 😄 was too anxious to dig in I forgot twice. Even then, the cake was almost finished before I remembered pictures on my first try.

This is the best chocolate cake recipe I have ever tasted. It's moist and rich without being too much. It's a very wet mix, but it comes out beautifully.

Amazing! I used pastry flour bc I was out of AP, & honey not sugar, & I used muffin tins but they were fluffy and delicious!!

A great recipe, though I used a bunt pan and used butter in place of oil. Everyone loved it. Reminded me of a devils food cake.
