- 3/4 cup juice (fresh, from 4 to 6 lemons, divided)
- Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt (; for table salt, use about half as much by volume)
- 4 Tbsp. butter (or ghee)
- 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
- 28 oz. whole peeled tomatoes (roughly mashed)
- 1/2 cup cilantro leaves (roughly chopped, and tender stems)

I would change up the spice combo. It was a bit much for taste. Personally, I did not enoy this recipe.

I LOVE this recipe. I've used it for a few years now. I also like to add red and yellow bell peppers to it. Going to try adding some pumpkin next time. 💛

Great! But instead of using the yogurt mix as a marinade, I cut up the chicken into bite size pieces and cooked it in the oven mixed with the yogurt mix in a large casserole.

it turned out great. I did not put more lemon in the sauce and used boneless chicken breasts and thighs.

I would do a bit less salt on the chicken and if you’re going boneless remember to get less than 5lbs

it was OK not soo nice coz the recipe called for frying the onions until dark so could taste that in the sauce so it wasn't nice for me but my husband loved it

I doubled the recipe amd made it for our restaurant in a pizza application. I made the paneer a bit more fragrent with nutmeg and cinnamon plus a hint of fresh Thai chillis. panner Palak pizza!

Pretty bland by the end, made another “street food” version of this dish and that had WAY more flavor. Once everything was cooked all I could taste was the tomato.

Ok, but way too lemony, which over-powered the spices. I had to add tiny amounts of baking soda to counter-act. I also added a good amount of garam masala, which made the flavor more authentic to us.
