Absolutely delicious!!!! Sweet, Savory, and cayenne for the kick

I always add a little extra bacon and crisp it a bit before adding the onions. Also add 1/4 cup whiskey. Delicious

The lack of liquid burnt my beans to a crisp in the slow cooker on low (there was an option that I followed in th blog).

Honestly, it doesn’t turn out looking very pretty but my only regret is that I didn’t double the recipe! So far, everyone loves it and requests it every time we eat BBQ.

Perfect. Used dry mustard instead.

skipped the bacon on top otherwise followed directions and it is a keeper

I doubled the diced bacon, left out the mustard and left out the extra brown sugar and bacon on top. The recipe was fantastic.

Great flavor, but I agree with others. Definitely needs more oven time. I will also add more liquid ingredients because mine were somewhat dry. But extremely flavorful and I will try them again.

Easy instructions - soaked beans overnight and turned out great.

It was great took it to a party and there were no leftovers

A very good recipe. I did this all in one pot. So, they are pretty unhealthy with so much bacon fat. I went light on the molasses and brown sugar, and added some cider vinegar to add some tang.

Good recipe, used canned pork'n beans and added in some bell pepper. Probably could use a little longer bake time to thicken the beans up.

It was so good I did however try to make it in my ninja cooker in the oven mode that cooked faster than the traditional oven they still tasted great but had to adjust the time

So I actually made this recipe for a huge family gathering for New Years 2017/2018. I had to upscale the recipe for a larger crowd. In place of the beans for the recipe I substituted a institutional size can of pork n beans (7 lb. can) . Perfect size to do a turkey roaster pan of beans. This pan serves approx. 30 people taking into account they WILL come back for a tad bit more. We have a diverse family and it was a winner for everyone. By far the best beans I have ever had. Prep time was a bit longer and I increased the bacon and molasses for taste during prep. A definite must for vegans .if you substitute out the bacon and get vegan beans.
Update: Sept,1 2019..I have made these beans over and over and here I am making them this morning for my wife’s fathers birthday... a fish fry with all the family . And yet again I have been requested to make these beans. Listen, till this recipe I thought only good baked beans were from a restaurant or a can(Bush’s ) honestly these cost a bit more to make but the end result is incredible. I can’t stress enough you have to give these a try and adjust the recipe for your taste. You do not have to be southern to appreciate the awesome flavor of these beans.

Well as with any great recipe one finds they tweak their version to the crowds taste. This recipe never fails to impress. So , in place of the greasy bacon I buy the packs of smoked ham pieces. I search for the leanest looking packages I Igenerally use 2 for an 7lb recipe. Cut into small pieces and cooked in pan on high heat and stirring constantly. Then I have added in 2 medium sized shallots and a teaspoon of minced garlic. Along with a half onion with 1 tablespoon real butter and 2 tablespoons virgin olive oil I carmelize and and add in the cooked ham pieces. I add in the other ingredients for the sauce and add I/2 bar of bakers chocolate. Sounds crazy but try it OMG. Best beans ever

I don’t like bean much and I’ll eat these all day my friends requested I bring them over today while they smoked ribs. These are seriously good

Wow were they good . Reminds me of my mothers except a lot less work. Followed the recipe exactly and it was very easy. Definitely a keeper. Will tell all my friends .

I tried making this with navy beans before. After letting them soak, the beans just always tasted tough. I tried making this with Great Northern Beans in a can and it came out great! Just remember to drain the cans or the finished beans will be very runny.

These beans were absolutely delicious!! Followed recipe exactly, with the exception of using only 1t Worcestershire rather than 1T - just a matter of personal taste. Served alongside chicken apple sausages. Will definitely make again.

This recipe was so delicious! My partner and I loved it so much.
We added :
3 garlic cloves (instead of 2)
Salt & Pepper
1/2 Tbspn Tabasco.
Overall, Lovely recipe.

My wife said this recipe has ruined all other beans for her. I usually toss it on the smoker for half an hour just to get some additional smokiness. But other than that the recipe is exactly what I want from beans.

I always add to a recipe - this is good but I added much more bacon, garlic, onions, bell peppers and used large cans of beans -
