This was delicious! Didnt have crushed tomatoes so used a can of whole tomatoes and crushed them with a slotted spoon. I used spinach instead of kale. I sautéed the crumbled turkey sausage, onions, garlic and chopped carrots in my new Cuisinart Central 3 in 1 multi cooker so I didn’t have to use a separate pan. I added the tortellini (non-frozen) and zucchini the last hour of cooking.

The carrots were still crunch after 4 hours. I think they should likely be cooked with the onions and sausage beforehand. It's a little bland still thinking through what I can add to give it more flavor.

Waited to add the tortellini like everyone else. I added more seasonings and a couple more veggies. Would make again!

Fantastic! I agree with lots of others and so waited to add the tortellini until the last 20 mins or so. Also added some Italian seasoning. The Italian sausage provides for the lion's share of the flavor. Was a huge hit with a big crowd of kids and adults. Served with crusty Italian bread.

The only thing is at first it was bland. So I added some Italian seasoning and it helped.
With that being said. This was very good and will be made again. I started this in the slow cooker when I got home from lunch, so it was ready when everyone got home for dinner.
Looking forward to do this one again.

great flavor! Don't cook longer than 4 hr, tortellini gets too soft.

My fiancé and I have added this to our regular rotation of meals! Tasty and super easy to make.

Delicious! Subbed kale for spinach and used hot Italian sausage. Threw the tortellini in half an hour before it was done and it turned out great!

the tortellini was extremely mushy. this recipe should probably be adjusted to have the pasta added for the last 30 minutes or so. the flavor profile was good, but the mushy tortellini ruined it.

Used turkey sausage. Added butternut squash.

Tasty and easy. I made in my instant pot but used the slow cooker function. I made the recipe as written except for using fresh tortellini. When soup was done cooking I turned on the sauté setting until the soup was bubbling and added the tortellini for the set amount of time on the package,

Its ok but the directions shouldnt have you putting the tortellini in for 4 hours. the were soggey and overdone.

The kale made it taste a little off. I'll try it with spinach next time.

It was great and my study buddies loved it too!

Added 1.5 packages of mild and hot sausage and 1 2/3 packages of tortellini should maybe have added tortellini in right before serving so they were al dente

Yummy! Didn’t like it with the kale, so ommit it when I make it now. I also double up on the tortellini & use chicken sausage instead.

I really really loved this soup. I used sweet Italian and hot Italian sausages and it was awesome it has the perfect taste, Not to spicy NOT bland at all! The chicken broth I used was Rachel Ray which by the ways I have used in the past and love it. I used fresh kale and frozen tortellini I think next time I will make refrigerated fresh tortellini. Oh and one more thing!!! I grilled some sliced ciabatta bread with olive oil and garlic and served in deep bowl and ladled some soup and garnished with Parmesan grated cheese and the bread on the side! My family loved it. I will definitely make this again for one of my family pot luck dinners!!! I love this app

So, so delicious and super easy. I was amazed how much flavor there was with so few ingredients. Definitely a fav!

Delicious. Tortellini a little soft so it could be put in later into the crockpot, maybe with an hour or two to go

I'm getting ready to make this again. The only change I made was I cut up a pound of Italian style turkey sausage and rolled them like little meatballs. Jennie O makes mild and hot. I used mild the first time. Will use hot next. I love kale and put more than called for, and YES, this is even better the next day!

Tasted great, although next time I'll probably cook the tortellini separately and add right before serving - it was way overcooked after 4 hrs in the Crock-Pot. I also substituted the kale for spinach. It was great. Definitely do again!

Basic Recipe was great although we wanted to "Doctor" it up a bit.
We used hot ground pork. Instead of water we used beer. We added Rotel tomatoes, chopped red and yellow sweet peppers and 1 jalapeño. We added some other spices to fire things up a bit but overall - great recipe!

Delicious and easy! Added frozen tortellini halfway through cooking time based on other reviews. Wonder how it would hold up as a freezer meal?

I added a tablespoon of Thyme, a tablespoon of Oregano, a teaspoon of fresh ground black pepper, and used Johnsonville HOT Italian sausage for the meat. Served it up with some cheesy Garlic Bread. Great Dinner

It was awesome. I just slow cooked it on the stove top and added the tortellini in the last few minutes till cooked before serving. I will definitely make this again.

Really enjoyed this recipe. Super simple and delicious! Agree with the other reviews to add tortellini later to avoid sogginess, but great nonetheless.

Great soup, didn't make it in a slow cooker and it came out amazing stop top, just wait until the end and pop the tortellini in. Have made this multiple times. As with most recipes, taste it and see what it needs, I added more Kale and red pepper flakes but it was great.
