Description
If you only associate Salisbury steak with frozen TV dinners, we’ve got a happy surprise. Made right, as in this recipe, the comfort-food special deserves a spot on your weeknight table. Juicy, tender hamburgers cook in a generous mushroom and onion gravy that has surprisingly complex flavors for something you whip up in a few minutes. All you need to add is a big dollop of mashed potatoes. The recipe is a Yummly original created by Ashley Strickland Freeman.

Directions
- In a medium bowl, stir together panko, milk, ketchup, egg, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, 1/2 tsp. salt, and the pepper. Add ground beef and mix gently until combined. Shape ground beef mixture into 4 patties, each about 4 inches wide.
- Heat 1 Tbsp. oil in a 12-inch nonstick frying pan over medium-high heat. (If you don’t have a pan this big, cook 2 patties at a time.) Add ground beef patties and cook, turning once, until browned on each side, 6-8 minutes total. Patties don’t have to be cooked through, as they will cook more in the sauce. Transfer patties to a plate.
- In a glass measuring cup or heatproof bowl, stir together boiling water and beef broth concentrate. Set aside.

Easy and yummy. I used Italian bread crumbs instead and subbed heavy cream for whole milk since I didn’t have any. Great flavor.
