- 1 yellow onion (large, roughly chopped)
- 4 cloves garlic (coarsely chopped)
- 1 1/2 cups merlot (Kuhlman Cellars)
- 1 1/2 cups beef stock
- 28 oz. diced tomatoes (can ,or 4 large roma tomatoes, chopped)
- 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 2 tsp. dried thyme leaves (or 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves)
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 batch grits (Cheesy, with Garlic optional)
- mashed potatoes (optional)
