very good. although I had to add double the amount of lentils for four servings

Great taste, reheats well, and is very filling. Definitely my new favorite way to make brown lentils.

A great simple dish that does the trick. I recommend adding garam massala if you have any for extra flavor.

Very tasty and easy to make, I served with a side of paneer and naan. I used coconut milk not cream and used double. Added Garam masala as others suggested. Also added a pinch of cardamom and coriander.

I typically don’t write reviews for many of the delicious recipes I find on Yummly, however, this was too good to not let food lovers, like myself, to pass up. The recipe is straight forward and very easy. I did however, add graham Marsala, coriander, and cardamom. Additionally, I doubled the amount of fresh ginger. The only suggestion I would give is to keep an eye on the water level while it cooks. I probably added an additional cup to 1 1/2 cups of water thought the whole cooking process. It’s amazing and your taste buds will thank you for making this dish. 😋

Delicious! This is a staple at my house. Thank you!

Instead of water puree tomatoes, and cream I used 1 can coconut milk, skimmed cream off top, and 1 28oz can petite chopped tomatoes with juice.

Delicious and easy recipe, definitely making it again

It was amazing! I did make it in a pressure cooker instead of on the stove top. But that was the only change I made. I used Masoor Dal (whole). Super yummy. Right amount of hot from the recipe. I normally like a 3 at an Indian restaurant. I would say, as these ingredients are measured, that’s where this dish will be.

Good, but not quite like what you’d get at a restaurant. It didn’t make very much. I used 1-1/2 cups of green lentils and that made about 4-5 servings. The water kept cooking off so I was checking every 10 minutes or so. I added at least 2 extra cups of water. I halved the butter and used lite coconut milk in place of the heavy cream. I added 1T of garam masala because it needed more flavor.

Loved it! I could only find red Split lentils, but that ended up meaning they cooked nice and quick, and I did add a teaspoon of fresh curry paste as well. Delish

Amazing flavor and easy to make!

Best Dal I've ever made. Don't get me wrong....very little can go wrong where butter and heavy cream are involved. Used far more broth just because the lentils kept soaking it up. Highly recommended

Great, would use less water

This Dal recipe was simple and yummy! I did sautee green peppers and onion while the lentils were boiling and added them to the pot with the other ingredients to get some extra veggies in.

Fabulous! A great option for my partially vegetarian family that meat eaters and non-meat eaters can enjoy. Nice spice level, great flavor, lovely texture. Tastes like we ordered take out from an Indian restaurant.

Fantastic I made it pretty much exactly per the recipe and it was fairly spicy but not uncomfortably so

Delicious! I substituted heavy cream for an equal part of Raita savory yogurt (tomato flavor with cumin & coriander) and peeled the ginger into small pieces - it was SO tasty!!
