Description
Small chunks of orange along with two kinds of citrus zest give bright, fresh flavor to traditional cranberry sauce. You can make this several days ahead if you like — it keeps well in the refrigerator for a week. The recipe is a Yummly original created by David Bonom.
Ingredients

10 SERVINGS
- 2 navel oranges (medium)
- 1 lemon
- 1 lb. cranberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup water

Directions
- Finely grate 1 teaspoon orange zest and 1 teaspoon lemon zest and combine in a small bowl. Save remaining lemon for other uses.
- Cut the rind and outer white membrane from the oranges, following the curve of the fruit. Cut between the inner membranes to remove orange segments. Cut each segment into thirds and transfer to the bowl with the citrus zest.
- Combine the cranberries, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Cook until all cranberries have popped and mixture thickens slightly, 8-10 minutes.
- Stir in the orange segments and citrus zest. Remove from heat and cool cranberry sauce to room temperature.
- Chill sauce at least 3 hours before serving to thicken.

Just finished, so easy, and much better then any other cranberry sauce you’ll try, would add salt during boiling, otherwise satisfied👍🏻

Sooo easy and delicious! Never made homemade cranberry sauce, it took all of 15 minutes and tastes 100x better than canned sauce.

Delicious and easy to make! A new staple in my home. I’ll make some whipped cream and eat it as a dessert too.

too sweet, definitely use half the sugar

It’s so good, I had to make TWO batches! I make this every single year, because this is always a go to for my family. That canned “cranberry sauce” is dreadful. I don’t know why people continue to eat that and instead they can make this which lasts for a while, especially when using the canning method.

Just made this. Wow, best cranberry sauce I've ever made! I did substitute maple syrup for the sugar and apple juice (MINUS 4 TABLESPOONS) for the water. Also added a cinnamon stick while cooking. Delicious!!!

Really delicious; zero complaints on this recipe! The orange really adds complexity to this bright, tasty side dish! We served it very cold. So good!

I'm sure this citrus cranberry sauce in yummy. I make a non-cooked similar version that was handed down to me from my sister-in-law many years ago and it always gets rave reviews. I have substituted Splenda for the sugar and it is just as good only without the extra calories. It is simply cranberries and orange including the zest, chopped plus the sweetener of your choice all stirred up. That is it! It too can be made ahead of time and keeps well in the fridge.
