Family loved it. It is a winner & so easy for Nana.
Used homemade cream of chicken soup w/cream cheese (we have an anti-mushroom family member).
I did not add water.
Added shredded cheese on top.
Did not include rice in the pan. That is made separately.
Quadrupled the recipe.
Next time, I’m going to crockpot it all.
Did the crockpot version. Added a cup of basmati rice & frozen mixed veggies. All it needed was pie crust to make chicken pot pie.

Someone said that they found this recipe flavorless. I don't understand why. I have used the same ingredients in other recipes, such as chicken pot pie and pot roast. Everybody always loves it, including my husband who claims to not like cream of anything soup. Just try this recipe. You will not be disappointed. With one exception: Make concessions if you're on a low salt diet.

This is the blandest most unseasoned meal I’ve ever had

This was an instant hit with my kids! The chicken was so moist & both the chicke and rice were so full of flavor. We add veggies or beans for more flavors & variety. The best part? It's so quick and easy!

Turned it into a slow cooker recipe, added bacon to the rice. A-MAZ-ING!
High for 4 hours.

I grew up on this and I did forget about it. It is always so yummy. I did it a little different to save time. I cooked the rice seperate and only did 1 can of cream of chicken and everything else the same. It took about 35 to 40 minutes with the chicken. I didn't have the time it took to bake it all together. Still tasted good. Thanks for the reminder, it's a keeper.

I LOVE this recipe! I used to make it in the early 90's when I first lived on my own and started cooking. So for me, "forgotten" has another meaning because I sadly forgot about this lovely recipe til I was browsing tonight!
Someone asked what they could use instead of Lipton Onion Soup mix. What I do is omit the soup mix but buy a box of Uncle Ben's Country Inn Wild Rice (the chicken and vegetable one is great!). I add all the contents (consisting of about 1 cup wild rice and season packet) PLUS one additional cup of rice to the soup and water, then place the chicken or pork chops on top of it (sprinkled generously with black pepper). Then proceed to bake as directed.
SOOOOO GOOOD!!!! Thanks for sharing!
