- Classic Crisco Pie Crust (Single crust)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 large egg yolks (slightly beaten)
- 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
- 1 Tbsp. Crisco Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening (OR 1 tablespoon Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 8 oz. whipped topping (thawed)
- 8 maraschino cherries (well drained)
- grated chocolate (Finely)

Directions
- PREPARE and bake single pie crust according to recipe directions, using a 9-inch pie plate; cool. Set aside.
- COMBINE sugar, cornstarch and salt in 2 quart saucepan. Whisk in milk gradually. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture thickens.
- REMOVE from heat. Blend small amount of hot mixture into egg yolks. Blend back into hot mixture, stirring to combine. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture boils.
- BOIL 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add chocolate, shortening and vanilla. Stir until chocolate melts. Pour into prepared pie crust. Press plastic wrap onto surface of pie filling to prevent skin from forming. Refrigerate several hours until completely cool or overnight.
- SPREAD whipped topping over surface of chocolate filling and garnish with maraschino cherries and grated chocolate. Serve.
