- 1 tsp. ground ginger

- 1/2 tsp. salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 2 cups apples (coarsely grated, peeled, I used 1 Fuji and 1 Granny Smith)
- 1 cup grated carrots (coarsely, peeled, from about 1 extra large carrot)
- 6 oz. cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (half of 1 stick, softened)
- 1 1/2 cups sugar (confectioners’)
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp. salt (or to taste)
- cinnamon (for garnishing, optional)
