- 1/2 cup cognac (or Brandy)
- 750 mL dry red wine (bottle of, preferably Cote du Rhone or Pinot Noir)

- 1 lb. pearl onions (frozen)
- 1 lb. fresh mushrooms (stems discarded, caps sliced, or a box of already sliced fresh mushrooms, white or Cremini)
