This has become one of my two standard bread recipes, made every other week. It always works to make a nice, mild sandwich or toast bread. It usually takes about 6 cups of flour for me. I like to do it all by hand and this recipe is beautiful for kneading that way. If I’ve already used about 6 cups of flour and the dough is the consistency I want, I knead with olive oil rather than flour.

this is my favorite bread recipe now!!! Don’t bother buying the Kitchen aid pans, Wilton’s do fine!! When you put the dough into the pans be sure to put something over them that will not stick!! The dough will fall if it sticks. Enjoy this delicious bread!!!

I don't know what I did wrong. It didn't rise enough. Its soft but heavy.

Flawless recipe. My new go to. For those who have trouble with how much flour to add it really depends. The times I’ve made this recipe I’ve used between 5 and 6 cups.

I've never made bread before and am excited to try my new stand mixer but I find this recipe confusing. The ingredients list calls for 6-1/2 cups of flour, but the instructions say to add 2 cups of flour to the yeast with warmed milk mixture and add "just enough" additional flour while kneading to make it the right consistency. So which is it - 2 cups of flour (plus "some"), or 6-1/2 cups?

This bread tastes so good, and it smells incredible! I found the instructions easy to follow, but I learned so much on my first try. I was worried my yeast would not activate, but after researching, I realized if the yeast is old, then I should consider proofing. I went through two packs of yeast during my trial. The Kitchenaid stand mixer made the rest of the process simple. Just combine and knead. The only troubling part is waiting, but it’s worth the wait. It’s 12:30 in the morning, and I should not be eating this. 😋 ❤️❤️❤️
